Speaking of new year and spring, have you checked out the Weekend Away on the PAI website www.parkinsons.ie? Looks like an interesting programme - a bit different.

The snow is gone for the moment - Peculiar weather patterns, lke Nature gone a bit awry. Shops in Dublin quiet too.

Hey guys,
Here we are after extended Christmas (school)break just back to normal again.
over the Christmas people were stranded due to weather conditions the roads were bad. However my son and I went to town this morning for some shopping and it was unbelievably quiet a shopkeeper commented on how people had said they couldn't stir out and now that the roads are better (well here in kilkenny)there's still nobody, no rush, just quiet everywhere.Anyway i was happy no queuing, went to chemist for my meds and was in and out in no time..

Ems, it doesn't bore me in the least - we are all walking the same path at different spots. Cathy, you're right, the have lost a good and talented person.

Cathy. I read recently of a National Advocacy Service Programme to provide an independent Advocacy Service for older people in residential care... You can train to become a Volunteer Advocate - I'll send you the article, but apparently you will get more info at www.yourserviceyoursay.ie.

Not quite related to this: Here's another link - talk about judging a book by its cover, which is what people with more advanced Parkinson's sometimes encounter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY - paste this into your Address bar, watch all 7 minutes of it - I think we who have Parkinson's may at some stage relate to it, but it is a good piece of TV, says she, waxing all mysterious! Surprised

hi Ann and all, will parkinsons be put to rest? I'd like to think so but it's here now and we're dealing with it as best we can, though it can be tough. Yes i often think and wonder how others are coping as i have a tremor in my left hand I'm coping although slowing down in certain areas eg, my writing is not good anymore, making beds, chopping veggies etc..that's me but i won't bore you guys..

I was diagnosed fourteen years ago .age 42.the first ten years was no problem ..I should consider myself very lucky I will never accept the disease but I nwill work around it .I am considering doing voluntary work with the st vincent de paul. but they didn't contact me they do not realise what a little treasure they have lost I will now divert my energy to looking after the affairs of older people in homes .run by th hse .I would act as their voice in places of authority .. i do not bother to check my spellings anymore . i hope nobody does you would find an extra letter also a couple mising ..slan agus blian mhaith agaibh go leir cait..

Thanks guys for nice welcome,
Yeah I wonder too what's ahead for us all, are we all so different like they say every case is unique or different. I was diagnosed almost 5 yrs ago with pd and slowly progressing.

Em, I wonder what your hopes and wishes are for the coming year - the coming decade?

What about Parkinson's, do you think it will finally be put to rest?

I am more hopeful than expectant in that regard, but then all it takes is one breakthrough.

I am wondering if there are others with Parkinson's reading this who might like to put pen to paper and write about what life is like for them, how they cope, what do they do that works for them, what supports do they have...
