Hello Ireland - Page 3 044435ef

I have been busy setting up a PD branch in Roscommon, the nearest branch is in Galway, that is an hours drive from me.
Our first meeting is on the 12th Sept.
Lets hope we can help someone newly diagnosed with PD. as I had nobody to talk too, actually I did not know what PD was. "I FELT SO ALONE"

Hi Everyone.

It is a sunny day here in Canada. Im awake, dressed, fed the barn animals. I was able to catch one of the kittens and pet it for awhile feeding little bits of food scraps. I staked up a row of peas that finally got out of the ground in my wet garden.

I am trying to tame a wild barn kitten not really used to people to be tame enough that my niece can have it for her new house. Anyone over there need a new kitten. 3 more left. All you have to do is fly to Ontario, come to my farm and catch it.

Hope everyone is well, especially Ems, . Have a good weekend everyone.

Oh yes, I have been watching the soccer games in Brazil. This is the most of soccer I have ever watched. I know that Hockey is a better game, but that soccer thing may catch on, I have enjoyed it.

Take care everyone, be strong and chins up,

Jb

I get funny looks wearing these shoes

I can tell they are thinking thank God I dont have to wear those shoes
They never talk about my shoes
To learn how awful my shoes are might make them feel uncomfertable
To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them
Once you get too wear these shoes they are yours to keep
I realise I am not the only one who wears these shoes
There are many pairs all over the world
Some say they ache daily as they try and walk in
Some say they have learned to walk in them so they dont hurt quite as much
No one deservs to wear these shoes
But these shoes have made me stronger
I must forever walk in the shoes of a person with parkinsons

Just came across this poem and though it was lovely

I am still on the Costa.  Another glorious day draws to a close.
However today was not that good for me.  Mr P is like that.  There are “off” days as well as “off” hours.  Being unable to predict off days makes it nigh impossible to plan.

Wednesday is market day.  Last week I went along to buy strawberries at €1.20 for a kilo – and they are very nice.
A disturbing experience, I reached for my pocket, to find another hand in my pocket;  A girl in her late teens.  Then two large ladies of the North African variety, with lots of enveloping material wrapped around them; they pushed their way between me and this girl. I let go of her arm and she ran.

My next door neighbour, “Margaret”, has returned.  Margaret is very English. She was away last week staying with her granddaughter,  who is very Spanish.  The schools were off for the Easter break.  So she was minding her great-grand-children, while their mother was at work. Margaret told me of a friend of hers, who was just on the phone, lamenting the theft of her purse in that market.

With strawberries at that price, I decided to make some jam.  Why is everything cheaper here?  I understand strawberries, but sugar?  At home it is about €1.19 a kilo.  You might get it in the likes of Aldi or Lidl for 1.09, Here it is 89c.  even the local corner shop is €1.  So why are things more expensive at home?  It is very tricky to get strawberry jam to set.  My first batch was marginal, the rest are imho perfect.  I gave Margaret a jar from the first lot.  She’s delighted and says it is set.  Actually she is right, if you take it from the fridge, and in this climate you have to, it is set.

There is a Parkinson support group up the coast in Xara, Xara
http://www.helpofdenia.com/pages/denia/parkinsons.php

So I got the bus to visit them.  They seem a nice group, only formed a few months ago, they are seeking affiliation of some sort with parkinsons in the UK.  If only to get information sheets etc..  Letters have been exchanged, but nothing has happened.  They had a very good Yoga session; then tea and cake for a chat.  I gather that they all see the same neuro, (who does not approve of dbs – and while I was talking with them ems was in Bristol).  After that they had a demonstration of acupuncture.  I was and am very skeptical.  A Karaoke session was underway as I took my leave to get the bus back.

I will skip the market tomorrow; a walk along the beach would be preferable.

Good morning to everyone. Em, what is Mammy's Day. Is that the Irish Mother's day we have here. Ours is not until May sometime I think. I am trying to make some maple syrup again. Sometimes I think this may be the last year I bother with this but here I am again. The weather for sap to run has not been good this year. It has been too cold. However, the forecast for this week looks good. I have made about 17 litres so far of Maple syrup. So its off to feed the Barn animals and off to the sugar shack. Happy last day of March, I will be glad to turn that page.

best wishes to you all. jb Very Happy

Good Morning Everyone.

Its been a long time since I checked in, should almost have to reintroduce myself. I hope you are all doing well and fighting the fight well. I don`t type as easily anymore and am not on the computer as much as I once was. I will be glad to see the end of this winter. Snow on the ground since the first part of November and here it is St Pats Day with my thermometer showing -20 C at 4 this morning.

Anyways, all the best to you fine people of Ireland.
